APAI PhD Scholarship - Chemical/Environmental Engineering
Applications are invited for an Australian Postgraduate Award – Industry (APAI) scholarship to study for a PhD degree at the Division of Chemical Engineering, School of Engineering, University of Queensland. This project is an ARC linkage project supported by Bauxite and Alumina Technology, BHP Billiton. This project aims to develop an effective and economical technology to separate DSP (desilication product) from red mud slurry and also recover the valuable soda from DSP. Soda in DSP represents 60% of soda loss in alumina refineries, and the slow release of soda in DSP also contributes to the long-term alkalinity of the residue.
The scholarship is open to Australian Citizens and Permanent Residents who hold an Honours I or high Honours IIA degree in Chemical Engineering or Environmental Engineering. It is valued at $26140 per annum tax free, additional living allowance would be possible for travel to on site lab of BHP Billiton to conduct experiments. The Scholarships will be awarded for 3 years with a possible extension of 6 months.
