More than a collaborative research centre, the ICSS offers unique learning experiences and technical training via staff exchanges, joint supervision of PhD research students, internships, and co-organisation of international conferences and courses.

Research training

Chief Investigators (CIs) of ICSS projects are working with HBIS to support research scholars from a few weeks up to two years. CIs also visit HBIS to share their expertise, working with HBIS Technology Research Institute to provide on-site training, seminars/workshops and short courses.

Postgraduate programs

If desired and they meet admission requirements, HBIS research scholars can complete relevant UQ Masters or PhD studies with ICSS. Future plans include establishing scholarships to support young HBIS employees wanting to study at UQ.

Customised executive courses

Through UQ Business School Executive Education, the ICSS can offer a range of high-level, customised and MBA-like training courses that link thought leadership, people development, strategy, innovation, and operational excellence to engineering research management and translational outcomes.

Internships

Internship opportunities are mutually beneficial for UQ’s global strategy and HBIS scholars and staff. The ICSS liaises with UQ Graduate School to design internship programs that provide the best learning experiences and outcomes for the students and project teams involved.
